Stephen founded the firm in 1970. He is a recognized expert in the areas of tax and business planning, litigation support, and business valuations. As a strategic negotiator, he works closely with clients and attorneys on succession planning, business structuring, matrimonial matters, wrongful death suits, employment contracts and mergers and acquisitions. He advises high net worth clients with their tax compliance, retirement, financial, and estate planning needs. He is a skilled executor and trustee, and currently serves on the board of an organization whose assets exceed sixty million dollars.
Over his distinguished career, he has been a trusted business advisor for businesses that range from small start ups to thriving companies. Some of these businesses were ultimately acquired by public companies. Many are market leaders today. He is well known in the community, having served in leadership roles on boards of several corporate and charitable organizations. He is often appointed by Supreme Court Justices as an expert in business and valuation matters.
Stephen received his B.S. Degree in Accounting from Syracuse University Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Tammy is the managing partner and has been with the firm since 1995. She is a recognized leader in estates and trusts. During her career she has worked with many prestigious law firms and is highly regarded for her understanding of fiduciary services from both a legal and an accounting perspective. She also specializes in business valuation services that relate to buy/sell agreements, matrimonial matters, and estate and gift valuations. She advises many of the firm’s high net worth clientele in the areas of estate, income and retirement planning. Her expertise includes U.S. tax law as well as foreign taxation.
She is very active in the community and has served as a Board Member for the Saint Francis Health Care Foundation. She has also served on the board of Family Services, Inc., one of the largest non-profit organizations in the Hudson Valley, where she chaired the audit committee. Her professional activities have included co-chairing the estate and trust committee for the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants. She has lectured before various professional groups on tax issues and valuations of business interests.
Tammy received her B.S. Degree in Accounting from SUNY Plattsburgh and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants. She is also a Certified Valuation Analyst and a member of the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts. Tammy is also an associate member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE).
Ann has been with the firm since 2010 when she merged her own tax and accounting practice with the firm. Ann has provided tax and accounting services for high net-worth clientele, estates, trusts, and small businesses. Ann also provides client representation before the IRS and New York State with regard to tax examinations and appeals.
She is active in several professional organizations. She currently serves as Past President of the New York State Society of Enrolled Agents (NYSSEA) and is a Fellow of the National Tax Practice Institute (NPTI) where she has served as a Level II Discussion Leader and on the Planning Sub-Committee. She is a former Treasurer and board member of the Beekman Library Association and has served on the National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA) Audit Committee, as well as on several NYSSEA Nominating Committees (as chair and member).
Ann received her M.S. Degree in Accounting from the University of Connecticut. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), New York State Society of CPAs (NYSSCPA), National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA), New York State Society of Enrolled Agents (NYSSEA) and the Hudson Valley Estate Planning Council.
Mark joined the firm in 2009 after six years with a Big 4 public accounting firm providing audit and other attestation services to large, multi-national, publicly-traded companies. He specialized in audits of organizations in the technology and manufacturing industries.
Mark provides general accounting and tax services to small and medium-sized businesses, as well as high net worth individuals. He also manages the family office and business service area of our practice which includes accounting, budgeting, financial management, insurance management, payroll and tax services. Additionally, Mark is a seasoned business valuation professional and manages the firm’s business valuation and litigation support practice. He previously served on the board of the New Horizons Foundation.
Mark received his M.S. Degree in Accounting from Boston College. Mark is a member of the American institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), New York State Society of CPAs (NYSSCPA), and National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA). He is also a graduate of the Leadership Dutchess class of 2012.
Chris initially joined the Kirshon team part-time in 2008 and assisted in the transition of the practice to a paperless office. He became a full-time member of our accounting staff in early 2013. He is a skilled tax preparer with nearly a decade of experience providing tax services to individuals and businesses.
Chris specializes in providing fiduciary income tax services for estates and trusts, as well as providing family office services for high net worth clients. Additionally, he oversees the preparation and filing of annual accountings with various courts in multiple states for trusts and guardianships.
Chris graduated from Marist College in 2012 with a B.S. Degree in Information Technology and received his Certified Public Accountant license in 2018. Chris is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of CPAs.
